Screens catch the large material, grinders chop what is left, pumps move the flow from stage to stage, and gearboxes drive mixers, clarifier arms and other slow machinery. Each of those has a shaft, a seal and a bearing seat that wear, and the wet, corrosive air attacks bare steel.
