The first table follows Storey County's private manufacturing establishments, annual average jobs and average annual pay for 2015, 2020, 2024 and 2025. The second table compares private manufacturing jobs in 2015 and 2025 for each county we draw from and for Nevada. Both come from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW).
What stands out
Most of the climb came in the first half of the decade: from 870 jobs in 2015 to 10,641 in 2020, then 13,978 in 2024 and 15,168 in 2025. Establishments rose from 27 to 38 over the full ten years, so the average workplace is much larger now. Average annual pay in those jobs rose from $62,099 to $95,182.
Other counties grew more slowly: Washoe County from 12,128 to 13,829 jobs, Carson City from 2,614 to 2,863, Douglas County from 1,666 to 2,041 and Churchill County from 443 to 518. Nevada as a whole rose from 42,106 to 67,744, up 61 percent.
About the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center
Wikipedia and Area Development describe TRIC as a privately owned park of about 107,000 acres east of Reno along I-80, with rail service by Union Pacific and BNSF, and as one of the largest industrial parks in the United States. We cite those descriptions as public information. No company in the park is named here. See our TRIC area page for the drive from our shop.
How it was measured
QCEW counts jobs covered by unemployment insurance, by the county where the job is located and not where the worker lives. The figures are annual averages for private employers. The numbers do not forecast anything; they describe what already happened.
