When a machine is down and the broken part is still on it, the job often starts on site. A person has to see how the part is mounted, what it connects to and what will have to come off first. The work done there is repair and alignment of your equipment, with the shop handling anything that has to be machined or made.
At a glance
- Field repair of your equipment at your site
- Components removed and set back in place
- Drive parts aligned
- Parts measured in place so the shop can make them
Love working with these guys, and gal. Great customer service and knowledgeable skill base. They have helped with many big projects and have always pulled though when our machines went down.
Field repair at your plant, mine or yard
The work happens at your site, on your equipment: a processing plant, a mine, a yard full of heavy machines. The aim is to find the fault, take the part off if it has to come off, and put the repaired part back so the machine runs. Anything that needs a machine tool goes to the shop and returns.
That back-and-forth is why having the shop and the field work under one company helps. The person measuring the part in place can describe it to the machinist, and the machinist knows what to ask for.
Measure in place, make in the shop
A common field job is measuring. A shaft, a housing or a bracket is measured where it sits, along with the parts it meets, and the numbers come back to the shop. The replacement is then machined to fit, rather than being made from a guess and adjusted on a stopped machine.
If the part can travel, shaft work, gearbox repair or pump and turbine repair continues in the shop after the visit.
- Measure the old part and what it mates with
- Remove the part for shop repair or replacement
- Return it and set it back in place
- Check the alignment before the machine restarts
Working with your maintenance team
Field work here means repair and alignment of your own equipment, such as fitting a repaired gearbox back on its mounts or aligning a drive. Your maintenance people know the machine and the site, and the shop brings the measuring and the repair. Lining up who is on site and what has to be shut down first makes the visit shorter.
Asking for field work
Call (775) 359-5570, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, or send the quote request with photos of the machine and the part, the make and model, and where it is. A Google reviewer wrote: "They have helped with many big projects and have always pulled though when our machines went down." That is the standard we aim for when your machine is the one that is stopped. The machine down answer lists what to have ready.
