Repairs for sewer and wastewater treatment plants

We have done repairs for a sewer treatment facility, and the equipment inside a treatment plant, such as pumps, grinders, shafts and gearboxes, is the kind we repair and make. Send the part or photos to our Reno shop for a prompt estimate.

Flow keeps arriving at a treatment plant every day, and its machines work in wet, corrosive conditions. The Census Bureau's 2023 County Business Patterns counts 4 water, sewage and other systems establishments in Washoe County, 3 in Douglas County and 16 across Nevada.

I have used Wolf Machine several times over the past few years for fabricating and repair of parts on my ultralight aircraft. [...] These guys are great to deal with. I wouldn't take my projects anywhere else.

What is inside a treatment plant

Wastewater arrives at a plant with rags, grit and debris. Screens catch the large material, grinders chop what is left, pumps move the flow from stage to stage, and gearboxes drive mixers, clarifier arms and other slow machinery. Each of those has a shaft, a seal and a bearing seat that wear, and the wet, corrosive air attacks bare steel.

That is why stainless steel shows up in so many replacement parts in these plants. When a part wears, the useful questions are which surface failed, what it was made of and what it ran against. A scored shaft under a seal, a bearing seat that has gone oversize and a flange that no longer seats flat are all common reasons to send a part to a shop, and each one has a repair path that stops short of replacing the whole unit.

How our work applies

Our services list includes: repairs, sewer treatment facility. That single line sits on top of the same machining, welding and rebuild work we do everywhere else: pump and shaft repair, gearbox rebuilding and stainless steel welding. The photo above is a grinder assembly from our gallery, shown for what it is: a machined stainless housing coupled to a motor.

How big is the sector

County Business Patterns counts private establishments, and many treatment plants are run by public agencies, so the Census figure understates the equipment in the field. The table above gives the counts by county.

What to send

Send a photo of the unit and a close-up of the failed part, the nameplate details and the material if known. Attach them to the quote request or call (775) 359-5570, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
